NAPLAN
Giinagay families,
We are well and truly into the Term here at St Mary's - it has been a very busy few weeks, and the children are settling well into St Mary's life.
School Goals
One of our school goals for 2024 in the area of Mission is:
To create a new school Mission and Values that are underpinned by our school charism and history.
This will involve community input and ideas which we are looking forward to gathering and discussing. Our school has a rich history that we are hoping to bring into the present, through our Mission and values.
Building Works
When it rains, it pours! We have a new fence around the hall, our work is almost complete for our new Library/Wellbeing hub and the Front Administration room is looking fabulous. Thank you to our families, staff and students for your patience as these works continue to improve our school. Just a reminder for families to come to the staff room for pick up of children.
NAPLAN
Next week (Wednesday), NAPLAN commences. As we say every year to families, this is a point in time assessment. Please let me know if there are any students particularly struggling with anxious feelings around this assessment so we can support them further.
New Families to St Mary's.
A big warm welcome to the Becker family. Max and Oceana join us in Years 5 & Kindergarten. We are very excited for Max and Oceana to join our St Mary's family and the children have made them feel very welcome.
We have a number of events coming up that involve our families such as working bee's, Open afternoons, etc. I am looking forward to seeing our families this term and sharing with you all the amazing achievements by our students so far.
Take Care,
Nadine

Each Friday afternoon starting the 16th of February for 4 Weeks our students in Years 2-6 attended the Basketball courts in Bowraville for 45 minute coaching sessions with the Valley Braves Basketball Association. There were some hot days but students braved the heat and had fun learning basketball skills.
In the 2/3 class students have started acting out and reading roles of characters in the books they have been listening to. In this photo Students are being read the book 'Birdie and the Fire' and acted out the story with puppets
Just dance is used sometimes for a 'brain break'. Having a break and getting up for a dance helps to reset the mind ready to get back into school work.
Year 4 has been learning how to use clay in their art class with Mr Richard. As part of 'Discovering Clay' classes students have been learning clay skills such as cutting, moulding and joining clay. In this lesson they created Turtles.
Four of our students participated in the Zone Swimming carnival at Macksville Aquatic Centre
On Tuesday the 27th February our students travelled to Rex Hardacre Oval in Coffs Harbour to play Rugy 7's. They played four games in total on the day.
Four of our students attended Zone Soccer Trials at Port Macquarie. Conratulations to Sonny and Harry for making it through to Diocese trials in Grafton.
Here's our timetable so parents can keep up to date on our lunch time club's
