Principal Message

Giinagay Families,

Thank you to all the amazing families who joined us for our Barrmarrany Girrwaa family group evening. It was wonderful to see so many parents and students join in these important meetings in our school community. We will run another evening in Semester 2, so please keep your eye out for that.

Parent-Teacher Meetings

Parent-teacher meetings are a valuable opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school. These meetings provide a chance for parents and carers to connect with their child’s teacher, gain insights into their academic progress, social development, and overall well-being, and discuss how best to support their learning journey. Open communication helps us work together to celebrate successes, address any concerns, and set meaningful goals for the future. We strongly encourage all families to take part in these interviews to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.

These meetings will occur on Tuesday the 22nd of July. A Compass news feed will be sent to families with instructions on how to book a time shortly.

Attendance

We expect your child to be at school every day.  Today our school attendance percentage is 66% and our target for every school day is 90%.

Every school day builds upon the previous one, making it essential for students to attend regularly.

Regular attendance is crucial as it fosters resilience and enables students to form vital social connections.  Please be mindful that if your child is late to school or leaves early, this will be marked as a partial absence and this partial absence accumulates towards their overall percentage.

NAIDOC Week 2025

Next week, our school proudly celebrates NAIDOC Week 2025 under the theme "The NAIDOC Week 2025 theme is "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy."." It is a time for us to honour the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Next week, our AEW's have planned opportunities for all students to engage in meaningful activities, discussions, and learning experiences that deepen their understanding and appreciation of First Nations cultures.

NAIDOC Week is not only a celebration but also a reminder of our shared responsibility to listen, learn, and walk together in reconciliation. I thank our staff, students, and families for embracing this important week with such respect and enthusiasm.

Wishing all of our families a safe and happy holiday.
