Term 1 Week 3 2024
Welcome Back!
A very big welcome back to all of our wonderful students & families. The year has started really well and I am amazed at how settled our students have returned. A very big warm welcome to our new students - Zarli Ledger, Peyton Jones, and the Wilson family - Cohen, Lexi and Aaliyah.
We are also very excited to welcome our 6 new Kinder students - Roman, Romi-Lee, Liam, Jai, Carmella & Le'Tarryl. Our K/1 classroom is bubbling with excitment and fun. We have had a very busy week with lots of events - keep an eye on our facebook page for updates that happen in our school each week.
School Fee Reminder
As shared last year, there has been a small increase to our School Fee's for the 2024 school year. Thank you to those families who have already made the adjustment to their weekly and fortnightly payments. Our preferred method of payment is through Compass, but if Direct deposits work better for you please see our School Fee Schedule on our School Website under the Enrolment tab or call the school Office for further information - 65647369.
Our School calendar is already filling up quickly with lots of exciting events that are centred around learning, faith and wellbeing. 2024 is going to be a wonderful year at St Mary's and I am looking forward to seeing all of our families soon.

Also at recess students can quiet play with Miss Mel & Uncle Mark. Activities change daily however they are activities such as drawing, reading, puzzles and playing chess.
On Wednesday 7th February Sr Di Moralde & Fr Peter visited our school. Sr Di Morald is a Carmelite Missionary Sister and worked in the Philippines. Now she works as a young adults & youth co-ordinator for the Lismore Diocese. Miss Alice met Sr Di on her Pilgrimage Tour and asked sister Di to visit our school.
On Tuesday the 13th February it was the 16th anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations delivered by former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
St Mary's had a Flag Raising Ceremony to acknowledge National Apology Day. Aboriginal Education Workers (AEW) then had activities for students in class in recognition of the day.
On Tuesday 13th February our 5/6 Students cooked pancakes for the school. Traditionally pancakes are associated with Shrove Tuesday, the day preceding Lent, because they are a way to use up rich foods such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent.
Ash Wednesday marks the start of the holy season of Lent, a time for reflection and repentance in preparation for the celebration of Easter. Students attended a whole school Ash Wednesday Mass on Wednesday 14th February.
Word of the week
Every week we will have a new word in Gumbaynggirr Language for all our school community to learn.
Some of our students nominated to participate in the combined swimming carnival with St Pat's on Friday the 9th February at Macksville Aquatic Centre.
We were so proud of our students lining up and competing against St Pat's in their age group heats. The day was finished off with fun novelty races.
Congratulations to Shyliqua, Harry, Archie, Lexi, Tallulah and Thomas for making it to Zone.
